An anushasak to millions of people across the world, Param Gurudev is most renowned for his love for discipline. And his commitment to discipline is put into implementation by one and all only when his own life is a reflection of that discipline at each and every step.
In 2022, Param Gurudev and sant-satijis were spending their chaturmas at Punadi, Kutch. Everyday discourses were being held in the SPM Bhavan Hall. The pravachan schedule was such that in the first half, Param Mahasatijis and Maharaj Sahebs would deliver discourses on ‘Enclyclopedia of Jainism’. And then, Param Gurudev would deliver life-transforming discourses on karma theory.
Being very committed to punctuality, Param Gurudev would always arrive at the discourse hall a few minutes before his designated time. Nevertheless, he would wait outside the hall for the young sant-satijis to complete their discourse. He would enter the hall only after that. And this would happen not just once, but every day… Hence, Param Mahasatijis requested him, “Gurudev, could you please come into the hall as soon as you reach SPM Bhavan… Please do not wait outside for our pravachan to end… we will re-continue the pravachan again after you enter!” And Param Gurudev replied, “If I enter the discourse hall, my entry will distract the speaker as well as the audience. It will break their link. I do not want to disturb anyone, because disturbing someone is also a type of hinsa (violence)!”
Param Gurudev – the ONE who is sowing the seeds of dharma in countless hearts, transforming countless lives, and is looked up to by millions of people as their GURU… has such extraordinary respect towards young disciples who have completed only 3-5-7 years of their diksha life! And such deep ahobhaav towards those who have come to listen to Prabhu’s priceless wisdom! It is said that when the GURU himself has qualities of exceptional respect and humbleness inside him, his disciples don’t need to be taught these virtues… they start developing them very naturally!
May we also be mindful of not disturbing anyone through our actions, may we adopt a lifestyle that is sensitive towards others and may we be careful of not committing even such micro forms of hinsa (violence)! May our discipline become an inspiration for others, and make us a reflection of our Guru’s virtues!
